BookCove is a collection of stories from the pulp magazines of the 1910s through 1930, transcribed and made freely available as EPUB, online reading, and plain text. It is an independent, ad-free project run by a small group of volunteers.
Each story is transcribed from scans of a magazine issue, then checked against the page images and proofread. The author’s spelling, dialect, and punctuation are kept as printed; only clear printer’s errors are corrected.
Each story’s page says which magazine issue it was transcribed from. That is not always where the story first appeared, since some stories were reprinted, and the date shown is the date of the issue used.
The stories on this site are believed to be in the public domain in the United States. No investigation has been made into their copyright status in other countries. If you are outside the United States, please check the laws that apply to you before using them.
Our own contributions, including the transcriptions, corrections, markup, covers, and descriptions, are also dedicated to the public domain. You are free to use them for any purpose.
We make a good-faith effort to include only material believed to be in the public domain in the United States. BookCove is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Project Gutenberg or any other organization. While its founder has previous experience in digital book production, BookCove operates independently.
